DAY 135: "Reaction Report, part 5"

Joel gets his 2nd Moderna shot. The next day he complains of flu-like symptoms, including chills. "And Everything hurt."

The symptoms were worse than his usual migraine & nausea. They last for twelve hours, through which he mostly sleeps. A couple of us take turns letting Anja out to get some sun and relieve herself.

Afterward, a backyard conversation turns to various ailments, medicines, and colorful descriptions of dry-heaving, as in who had the worst, etc..

A warning goes out to Brandon. He's due for his 2nd Moderna in about 10 days. Be prepared!

  1. Bummer! That sounds rough. Mine was Pfizer and I felt pretty bad for just over a day, with chills, aches, and headache. But I'm happy about it. A friend said her family got their 2nd dose at the same time, and all 3 had zero side effects. Now they're worried they got an expired batch or something.

    1. They told me that zero side effects doesn't indicate zero efficacy, but it'd be nice to know you'd gotten your money's worth. Joel also had swollen lymph under the receiving arm: a good and not inconvenient indication that all was up to snuff. But I'm not ready to toss in the mask just yet.

    2. Same here. I'll be wearing it whenever is reasonable. But let's find a way to do lunch soon somehow! Or some such activity. Does that great restaurant you took us to in the before time (one of the last places I ate, actually) have a patio? We could take winter coats, and straws to slip under our masks! But the food is what made that place so great, to me, so the temptation to eat is strong. And the temptation to hug you would be pretty irresistible. Let me know when you're ready for that. ;)
